From the latest Construction Update: railyard work Sept. 24-25 to close one block of Pacific Street to traffic

According to the latest two-week Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning Monday and released yesterday by Empire State Development at  5:43 pm (late) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners, there's will be significant infrastructure work two weekends from now closing Pacific Street to traffic between Carlton and Sixth avenues.

During the weekend of September 24-25, the new DC Substation will be installed in the Long Island Rail Road yard. A crane on Pacific Street will be needed and thus will close the street, as noted above. Presumably it will still be open to pedestrians and cyclists.

"The Equipment to be installed will be delivered to Pacific Street Queuing Area during night time hours starting on September 19," according to the notice, which does not describe the location more precisely nor predict how noisy it might be.
A Community Notice will be sent when permits are filed.

New work at the B2 (461 Dean Street) modular tower, at the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Dean Street, includes exterior site work within the construction fence perimeter.

After-hours work

Also, there may be late shift, Saturday, and overnight work. Saturday work is expected at B2, and may occur at other sites, including B3 (38 Sixth Avenue), B11, B12 (615 Dean Street), and B14. Second-shift work also may occur at B2, which is the first tower expected to open.

Weekend electrical utility work will continue at the LIRR rail yard, and demolition of the LIRR tunnel should continue on weekends, continuous from Friday night through Sunday morning.

Demolition still delayed

As stated in the past seven construction updates, demolition at Block 1120, the railyard block between Sixth and Carlton avenues, could commence upon receipt of Department of Buildings and Department of Transportation. A community notice will be distributed.
